Judicial power

„JUDICIAL POWER IS VESTED IN THE COURTS“

(Article 9 of the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia and Article 1 of the Law on Оrganization of Courts)

Judicial power in the Republic of Serbia is exercised by courts of general jurisdiction (The Supreme Court of Serbia, appellate, district and municipal courts) and specialised courts (The High Commercial Court, commercial courts and the Administrative Court).

Unlike the other two branches of power, the executive and legislative, there is not a special body prescribed by the law which represents the judicial power.

THE SUPREME COURT OF SERBIA, as being the highest court in the Republic of Serbia, is on the top of the pyramid of the judicial power.
