Supervisory Board

The bodies of the Supreme Court of Serbia are: General Session, Supervisory Board and Grand Personnel Council.

Supervisory Board is the body of the Supreme Court of Serbia which has five members, comprising two judges from the Criminal Division, two from the Civil Division and one judge from the Administrative Division. They are appointed by the General Session of the Supreme Court of Serbia, for the term of four years. Members of the Board may not at the same time be members of the Grand Personnel Council.

Supervisory Board has its Rules of Procedure, which prescribes in more details the manner and criteria for work. Work of the Board is managed by a judge so elected by the Board members, in accordance with the mentioned Law.

Scope of work of the Board is prescribed in Article 40 b of the Law on Judges:

Board is authorized, upon complaint or at own initiative, to control court cases and have insight into them. Once the court case control is finished, the Board may initiate before the Grand Personnel Council the procedure for dismissal of a judge on the grounds of unconscientiousness or unprofessional performance of duty or may propose the pronounciation of disciplinary measure to the judge.

The Board decides in a closed session.
